چکیده

The μ parameter is calculated in supergravity models possessing the U(1)A× U(1)R symmetry. In one natural model without a free mass parameter below the Planck scale, the symmetry breaking scale is identified as the hidden sector squark condensation scale. [email protected] 1

A natural solution to the μ-problem in dynamical supergravity model

The Higgs mixing term coefficient μ is calculated in the supersymmetric theory which possesses a non-anomalous U(1)R symmetry in the limit of global supersymmetry. In this model, supersymmetry is assumed to be broken by gaugino condensation in the hidden sector when the supergravity effects are turned on. The soft breaking terms in the visible sector and the μ term of order the weak scale are p...

Hypercharged Conformally Sequestered Gauge Mediation

The Bμ/μ solution in GMSB via the hidden sector dynamics is simple and natural. However, it has some obstacles to be physical. To circumvent this situation, we introduce the visible and the hidden branes, each of which has its own U(1) symmetry, in a five dimensional setup. In the bulk we allow Chern-Simons coupling between the visible and the hidden U(1)s which gives an enhancement of the mass...

Principles toward Solutions of the μ Problem

We stress that a natural solution of the μ problem requires two ingredients: a symmetry that would enforce μ = 0 as well as the occurence of a small breaking parameter that generates a nonzero μ. It is suggested that both the Peccei-Quinn symmetry and the spontaneously broken R symmetry may be the sources of the needed μ term in the minimal supersymmetric standard model provided that they are s...

Hidden Sector Axions: Physics and Cosmology∗

Embedding hidden sector supergravity models in the framework of string theory leads to the appearance of axion-like degrees of freedom. Among them is the model independent axion of heterotic string theory. It has a decay constant of order of the Planck scale and could play the role of a quintessence field. In models allowing for the required μ term in the TeV range, the hidden sector dynamics l...

Advantages and Disadvantages of Supersymmetry Breaking at Low Energies *

The breaking of supersymmetry is usually assumed to occur in a hidden sector. Two natural candidates for the supersymmetry breaking transmission from the hidden to the observable sector are gravity and the gauge interactions. Only the second one allows for supersymmetry breaking at low energies. I show how the two candidates deal with the flavor and the μ-problem; I also briefly comment on the ...
